A Yu Tea gift card lets someone choose their own cup from everything we make: Organic Matcha, Ceremonial Grade A, Sencha, Hojicha and Genmaicha, plus our decaf matcha and decaf sencha for later in the day, in single-serve sticks or pouches. Cards come in amounts from $10 to $250.

How it works: pick an amount and add it to your cart. Tick "I want to send this as a gift" to enter the recipient's email, a short message and the day you would like it to arrive; leave it unticked and the card comes to your own inbox right after checkout. It never expires, there are no fees, and any balance left over stays on the card for the next order.

If the person you are buying for is new to Japanese green tea, my guide to choosing a green tea is a good place to send them, and all of our teas are one click away when they are ready.

Tea Insights

  • green tea powder in various color

    Best Matcha Grades

Ceremonial, everyday and culinary matcha differ in taste, color and best use. Ceremonial is the highest grade, made to drink on its own; culinary is made for cooking and baking; everyday sits in between.

    Benefits of Green Tea

What is in green tea, from catechins and EGCG to L-theanine and caffeine, and what the research does and doesn't show so far, plus how matcha, sencha, hojicha and gyokuro compare.

  • Yu Tea Decaffeination Process

    Decaf Matcha Guide

Does decaf matcha exist? Yes. Ours starts as the same shade-grown tencha as our regular matcha, is decaffeinated with water and CO₂ while the leaf is still whole, and tests at about 6 mg of caffeine a serving while keeping 86% of its EGCG and most of its L-theanine (from our most recent batch testing; results vary by lot and packaging).
